AYC Press Release - October 13th, 2016

Dear AYC Members,

As you all aware Hurricane Matthew has caused absolute devastation to the already impoverished island of Hispaniola and in particular the country of Haiti and AYC have decided to lead a fund raising drive to collect funds to assist our not too distant neighbours.
 
We have already made a start with the entry fees from Sunday's mini regatta being donated to the fund and more fund raising events are being talked about. If any of you have any ideas, we'd love to hear them and if you'd like to organise something yourself, the AYC facilities are available and the staff and Board Members will do everything possible to assist.
 
All funds raised will be donated to the reputable UK Charity ShelterBox, who are already on the ground in Haiti. They provide aid to disaster hit areas in the shape of a large box containing a family sized tent and additional equipment to help deal with immediate needs and to assist people re-build their lives.
 
Any cash donations will be gratefully received and we promise that every cent will be passed on.
 
Matthew passed us with little consequence, none of us know how any future system will impact us, but one day it's very likely it will again, be us.
